Le Val de Durance is a 4 star Marvilla Campsite in Provence. It has a restaurant, shop, pool, slides, a playground, and sports pitches. It is located beside a beautiful lake, near to the town of Cadenet.
We booked through Eurocamp.
We chose this campsite as our main base to explore Provence during our two week French Road Trip. Here is what we thought.
The Good
The Location

Right on the edge of the beautiful luberon region in Provence is Le Val de Duramce Campsite. When we arrived, I was thrilled to drive past stunning poppy fields and see the view of the hillside town of Cadenet; it really looked beautiful, and just how I imagined camping in Provence!
We were only a short drive from the must see villages of the Luberon, which was my main reason for wanting to visit the area. We were perfectly placed to visit Rouisillion, Gordes, Bonniuex, and Cucuron, which were stunning. The gorgeous Loumarin is only a 15 minute drive away and is a beautiful village with fantastic cafes, restaurants, and shops. We couldn’t have been happier with the location.
The facilities

The facilities were clean and smart, the shower and toilet blocks looked good although we didn’t use them. There were washing machines and dryers that you could pay by card/ contact less with.
The accommodation was clean and modern and looked in good condition. The shower in it was fabulous! (We booked a 3 bedroom comfort XL). I also loved the large decking area and the fact the pitches were shady with plenty of trees and greenery about.

The restaurant/bar serving the usual snacks and meals was nice, although popular and reservations made earlier in the day were recommended. There was a small shop with the basics, and reception had a list outside of all the local markets, what day they were on and in which town/village which was very helpful.
The play areas for the kids were good, there was an acro/obsatcle course for the kids and also a small play area more suited to toddlers and preschoolers.
They also had a large volleyball pitch and football pitch, again all in nice condition.
The pool

The pool was great! It was a real highlight for us. The outdoor pool was on the small side, but big enough, and it was heated. There was also a toddler splash pool with fountains/ spray, which was nice to sit in for a while. The kids adored the water slides, and there were three large slides and a fish bowl, which kept them entertained all afternoon, every day!
The Lake

There is a beautiful lake for fishing with picnic tables and gazebos for shade, as well as a separate swimming area. It is located near the kids’ play area and sports pitches, and it looked like you could walk around the whole lake, although we didn’t have time this one to try the walk. I loved bringing my early morning coffee to the misty lake and watching the birds on the water.
Somethings to consider
The only thing I would say about this campsite is that the pitches looked on the smaller side, and there wasn’t much space between cabins. When we visited ( Late May/ Whitsun) it was quieter and not at full capacity so we really didn’t notice that much, bit in peak season, I can imagine parking might become a bit annoying and there could be a feeling of being a little crowded in.
Helpful information
The nearest large supermarket is Super U in Puyvert, is only a 7 minute drive away.
The reception has a list of all the local markets of the provencal villages, detailing which day and time in each different location
There is a stage and entertainment area near the restuarant/ pool , The bar and entertainment program wasn’t in full swing on our visit and we didn’t eat in the restaurant, but lots of people were and seemed to be having a good time!
Overall, we had a wonderful time and wouldn’t hesitate to choose it again when we are visiting the Luberon region of Provence!
