Manor Farm campsite is a privately owned campsite located in Uterseen, near Interlaken, set on the shore of the beautiful Lake Thun.
You can rent cabins, lodges, tents, or book a grass pitch for independent camping/ campervans.
We booked through Eurocamp. We have seen tour operators like Canvas Holidays and Vacan Soliel operating here as well, and you can also book directly with the campsite, too.
We always use Manor Farm as our camping base when holidaying in Switzerland.
The Good
The Location

We love that this campsite is so close to Interlaken – it’s great to be close to the town to use the shops, doctors (we have needed this before, unfortunately!), pharmacy, and so on.
There is an Aldi supermarket nearby which we use a lot for grocery shopping as we cook a lot at the campsite when we stay here.
The campsite is well serviced by public transport to Interlaken, which is great if you don’t fancy driving. The campsite offers a free boat ticket so patrons can get the daily boat into Interlaken and back, which was super fun for the kids, and was a scenic journey on Lake Thun. You can also catch the regular bus service to Interlaken (or drive, of course).
Once in Interlaken, it is a good hub for buses and trains to other attractions in the area
We tend to drive to most places we want to visit, and love that this campsite is just a short distance from lots of amazing places to visit in the Bernese Oberland; Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Oschininsee and Schingye Platte. Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, the two enormous lakes that surround Interlaken, are, of course, close by as well and offer lots of activities and scenic beauty.
The Lake

This campsite is set right on the shore of Lake Thun. The views across the water to the mountains beyond are divine, and there is a jetty for launching your own canoes and paddleboards for plenty of water fun with the family. There are plenty of spots for swimming in the crystal clear water, which is so refreshing on a hot day.
There are grassy knolls to sit and bring a picnic lunch or dinner, or to go for a sunset swim. After a busy day sightseeing in the mountains, it’s great to spend a day relaxing by the water and playing in the lake.
The campsite is large, with a road dividing it, although there is an underground walkway so you can cross the campsite traffic free.
The Eurocamp accommodation area is located furthest from the lake, although it’s still only a 5 minute walk and we haven’t found it inconvenient.
We love that we can enjoy our morning coffee watching the sunrise on the water or wander down to the lakeside to spend the evening on the shore after dinner.
It’s picturesque

As well as the beautiful Lake Thun, the campsite is green and leafy, and is just a relaxing and pleasant place to look at and camp in.
From the camping fields, you can see the Schynige Platte ridge and the Harder Klum viewpoints high up in the mountains. The imposing mountains really do create a spectacular backdrop for any camping trip here.
Somethings to consider
The Facilities
The only thing I would say about this campsite is that some of the facilities look a little bit tired, and there isn’t as much ” entertainment” that you would find in a typical large Eurocamp site in France or similar.
For example, there is no pool with slides (although you can use the indoor pool in Interlaken for free if you stay here) and the games room is a bit worn out with lots of broken fuseball table and machines etc.
However, the toilets and showers are modern with plenty of hot water, it is a well-kept and clean site, and the pitches are reasonably spacious. There is a football pitch and a small playground near the restaurant which is a nice pizzeria that we really enjoyed (although it is expensive, but that’s Switzerland for you!)

We normally stay in a safari tent, booking through Eurocamp.
We always find it a comfortable and economical option – it is a bit like glamping, with wooden flooring, beds, gas cooker, a small fridge freezer, and electric lights.
There are lots of different cabin options to choose from as well, or of course your own tent equipment or campervan.
Useful information
The nearest supermarket is an Aldi, which is only a 10 minute drive away.
There is a launderette on site and a small shop selling the essentials.
There is a kids club that operates in select weeks of the summer holidays – we have never used it as we normally visit in May/ June. We did come in the last two weeks of August last year, and the kids club had stopped running as the Swiss children had already returned back to school.
You receive a leaflet with discount vouchers for attractions/ mountain transport when you stay here. We used it for the first time last year after many years visiting this campsite, and it saved us a lot in train and gondola tickets, between 10 and 20% off in some cases!
You can use the indoor pool in Interlaken, and ride the boat to Interlaken for free if you stay here.
Overall, although not perfect, we always love our stays at Manor Farm Campsite. It is a testament to the holidays we have here that we return nearly every summer. It is quiet and relaxing, it is perfectly located for exploring the alps and there is lots of outdoor space to enjoy for the kids.
We can’t wait to get back here in August 2024!
